Municipal Alliance

The Municipal Alliance is a network of community-based prevention programs found throughout New Jersey’s 21 counties. It was created for grassroots volunteers to have the opportunity to develop programs and implement activities to address specific substance abuse problems in their communities.

Throughout the state, Drug Enforcement Demand Reduction (DEDR) funds are collected by fines imposed for drug-related offenses. The Governor’s Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse (GCADA) utilizes these funds to issue grants to each county in New Jersey.

The Perth Amboy Municipal Alliance seeks to create a safe and healthy community that is free from substance abuse. It was established in 1990 with the purpose of developing a network of local leadership that will help identify needs and services, coordinate projects and develop prevention programs to address alcohol, tobacco and substance abuse.

The mission of the Municipal Alliance is to educate Perth Amboy residents about the dangers of substance abuse by implementing programs and activities that promote a safe, healthy and drug-free lifestyle.

A resource, center of the Municipal Alliance Program, is the Perth Amboy Municipal Alliance Committee (PAMAC). PAMAC is composed by a diverse group of volunteers who work collaboratively to plan and implement drug, alcohol and tobacco prevention programs in our community. Meetings are held the 1st Thursday of the month (unless otherwise noted) at the Brighton Avenue Community Center – located at 56 Brighton Avenue from 4:30pm - 5:30pm.
