Seniors & persons with disabilities: Learn how to travel using public transportation
The City of Perth Amboy's Office on Aging has been selected to host the Middlesex County Travel Independence Program (MCTIP), a new county-funded travel training initiative. MCTIP teaches seniors and persons with disabilities how to travel on the county shuttle bus system and on NJ Transit buses and trains. The first class is set for May 14.
Participants will learn how to use public transportation to safely travel within the county, and other locations in New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia. This is an excellent opportunity to see how easy it can be to use public transportation for travel to stores, restaurants, medical appointments, and visits to family and friends. It's convenient, reliable and less expensive than travel by car.
The first session meets for two classes held on Thursday, May 14 and 21. After attending both classes, participants will take two trips to their preferred destination with the travel instructor. The classes and trips are free.
