REAP Initiative Launch in Perth Amboy

We were excited to share that Perth Amboy was chosen as the host for the announcement of the Residential Energy Assistance Payment (REAP) initiative. This important program, launched by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, provided a $175 credit to about 278,000 households across New Jersey. Starting in September, eligible families automatically saw this credit on their utility bills, helping to ease the burden as we headed into the colder months.
The REAP initiative was a big step in supporting our residents here in Perth Amboy and across the state. Affordable energy is essential to the well-being of our community, and this program made a real difference for so many families.
We want to thank NJBPU President Christine Guhl-Sadovy, Speaker Craig Coughlin, Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez, Cheryl Stowell from NJ Shares, Kelvin Boddy from the Housing & Community Development Network of NJ, and Brooke Helmick from the NJ Environmental Justice Alliance for all their hard work.
