October Events in Perth Amboy

October is Here! Join Us for Important Observances and Events

October is here, and it’s a special month where we focus on four important causes: Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Fire Prevention Week and Red Ribbon Week. These issues affect many of our neighbors, friends, and loved ones, and we’re coming together to show our support, spread awareness, and offer resources to those who need them.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Join us for the Breast Cancer Awareness Flag Raising on October 2nd at 2PM at Police Headquarters, 375 New Brunswick Avenue. Let’s stand together in pink to support those affected by breast cancer. And don’t miss the Breast Cancer 5K Walk/Run on October 26th at 9AM at Brighton Avenue Community Center, 56 Brighton Avenue. You can sign up here.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

We’re also observing Domestic Violence Awareness Month with a Flag Raising on October 17th at 1PM at City Hall Circle, 260 High Street. Later that month, join us for the Candlelight Vigil on October 24th at 7PM at the Historic Ferry Slip as we honor survivors and raise awareness for this important cause.

Fire Prevention Week

We’re also marking Fire Prevention Week to highlight the efforts of our firefighters and educate the community about fire safety. Join us for the Fire Department Open House on October 11th from 6PM to 8PM at Fire Department Headquarters, 375 New Brunswick Avenue for interactive demonstrations, family-friendly activities, and important safety tips.

Red Ribbon Week

As part of Red Ribbon Week from October 23rd to October 31st, we will come together to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. Look for events and activities throughout the city to help raise awareness and encourage positive choices in our community.

Let’s continue to look out for one another and keep our community strong.
