Office of Economic & Community Development
The office administers the HUD-CDBG and HOME program. The office works with non-profits and city departments to plan and provide a variety of services and improvements. It performs various planning functions including the submission of grant application requests for state and federal assistance. The office plans and oversees most of the city's development projects that have included new park development, park improvements, historic restoration, waterfront development, and numerous public improvements.
The purpose of the City of Perth Amboy’s Office of Economic and Community Development (OECD) is to encourage development that reflects, preserves and enhances the City’s unique culture and historic character that results in economic vitality, a diverse tax base, environmental sustainability and a higher quality of life for its residents.
OECD also works in partnership with a wide range of public agencies, non-profit organizations, and developers to provide vital community programs and develop affordable housing opportunities. All CDBG and HOME funding procured through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services is administered through the OECD.
