Mayor's Proclamation
Dominican Republic Independence Month
WHEREAS, the Dominican Republic, which is located on the Island of Hispaniola, has a long and proud history; and
WHEREAS, the Independence of the Dominican Republic was declared on February 27, 1844; and
WHEREAS, the Dominican Republic has produced many great individuals who have made enormous contributions to the world, this nation, the State of New Jersey and the City Of Perth Amboy;
WHEREAS, the Dominican
Community has been an integral part in the economic, civic and cultural life of the City of Perth Amboy.
WHEREAS, the City of Perth Amboy proudly added the name Juan Pablo Duarte to Caledonia/Roessler Park; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Wilda Diaz, Mayor of the City of Perth Amboy, do hereby take great pleasure in recognizing February, as Dominican Republic Independence Month, to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of the Dominican Community to the life of the City of Perth Amboy.
