Sewer Utility
The City of Perth Amboy’s wastewater collection system is owned by the City of Perth Amboy and managed and operated by Utility Service Affiliates (Perth Amboy) Inc., a subsidiary of Middlesex Water Company under a ten-year agreement. USA-PA serves approximately 12,000 customer accounts comprised of residential, commercial and industrial connections.
The City’s sewer system consists of 2.04 miles of 24 inch concrete force main, 95 miles of sewer main of various sizes, shapes and materials, 4.6 miles of sewer interceptor mains, 1,100 storm water catch basins, 875 manholes, 4 pump stations and 16 Combine Sewer Overflows with associated netting chambers to remove floatables before discharging to the Bay. The Second Street pump station pumps all of the City’s wastewater through the 24 inch force main to the Middlesex County Utilities Authority (MCUA) for treatment.
