Beam Signing Ceremony - New Perth Amboy High School

Beam Signing Ceremony Marks Next Chapter for New Perth Amboy High School

On April 8, 2022, Perth Amboy Public Schools held a beam signing ceremony for the new Perth Amboy High School. This event marked a significant milestone in the largest project undertaken by the New Jersey Schools Development Authority (NJSDA). The new 576,000-square-foot facility will accommodate over 2,800 students in grades 9-12 and is expected to open in September 2024.

Dr. David A. Roman, Superintendent of Schools, highlighted the importance of the event, stating that the signatures on the beam represent a commitment to the future foundation of the school. The new high school will consolidate various innovative programs, including the Communications Academy, Health Sciences Academy, Biliteracy Program, Comprehensive High School, Panther Life Program, and Freshman Academy.

Board of Education President Kenneth J. Puccio and SDA CEO Manuel Da Silva expressed their enthusiasm for the project's impact on the community and its role in providing a state-of-the-art learning environment for Perth Amboy students.

The new facility will feature adaptable open spaces, an auditorium, multimedia center, art and design studios, general classrooms, science labs, and gymnasiums. Specialized areas will include a black box theater, music technology lab, dance studio, automotive lab, communications/broadcasting lab, digital/graphics studio, culinary arts lab, and language lab.
